The Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia reported that its President, Bujaré Abazi, participated in the 16th Conference on Payments and Market Infrastructure in Ohrid, focused on “Reconnecting Payments in the Digital Age” and organised by the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Central Bank of the Netherlands. Discussions with international institutions, European bodies, banks, fintech companies and non-bank payment service providers centred on trends and challenges in payment services and digitalisation. Within the event, participants highlighted the country’s integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as a step toward further modernisation of the financial system and alignment with the European framework. Abazi also met representatives of central banks and European financial institutions, stressing the importance of digital transformation, capital market integration and upgrading financial infrastructure in line with European standards.
