Central Bank of Ireland Governor Gabriel Makhlouf, speaking at the Eurofi Financial Forum in Dublin, called for faster progress toward a single European market spanning goods, services and capital. He argued that integrated capital markets and cross-border banking depend on deeper integration in the wider economy. Makhlouf urged Europe to reduce financial fragmentation, complete the Banking Union and remove barriers including divergent insolvency and employment regimes and fragmented digital infrastructure. He said Europe should preserve the resilience created by post-crisis reforms while building a deeper, barrier-free market supported by stable rules, open markets and credible institutions.
