The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on meetings with Chinese regulators and major banks during a working visit alongside the National Bank of Kazakhstan. Talks with the People's Bank of China and the National Financial Regulatory Administration covered deeper regulatory cooperation in banking, insurance, digital financial assets and central bank digital currencies, as well as the potential expansion of Chinese subsidiary banks in Kazakhstan. Meetings with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank and Agricultural Bank of China focused on increasing financing and investment, developing capital market instruments and sharing expertise in artificial intelligence and banking digitalization. ICBC's assets in Kazakhstan have risen 2.5 times over two years to more than KZT 900 billion, while its financing of the economy totaled about KZT 500 billion over the same period. Bank of China's Kazakhstan assets have doubled since the start of 2025 to KZT 800 billion. Kazakhstan currently has three banks with Chinese participation, with combined assets of KZT 2.8 trillion, or 3.8% of banking system assets.

Kazakhstan's financial regulator held talks with Chinese authorities and major banks on closer cooperation in banking, insurance, digital assets and central bank digital currencies.
