The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) published an update on Governor Ahmet Ismaili’s meeting with Catriona Purfield, Director of the International Monetary Fund’s Institute for Capacity Development, to discuss a new technical assistance project aimed at strengthening Kosovo’s macroeconomic frameworks. The project is intended to upgrade the CBK’s analytical and decision-making capacity through improved macroeconomic modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis. The multi-year initiative aims to build a stronger analytical infrastructure to support macroeconomic forecasting and policy analysis, including scenario development for policy discussions and macro-financial stress testing, with applications in macroprudential and other policy areas. The CBK also briefed the IMF team on recent financial sector developments and ongoing reforms, and noted that the project follows the IMF’s latest assessment mission in Kosovo and builds on support agreed after the CBK’s formal request for technical assistance. The IMF reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing cooperation and the project’s implementation.
