The Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Estonia has nominated Andrus Alber, Ülo Kaasik, Kilvar Kessler and Margus Rink as candidates for the position of Governor of Eesti Pank, a role that includes membership of the European Central Bank’s Governing Council. Interviews with the candidates are scheduled for 21 October, with the final selection planned for 28 October to allow time for reflection between meetings. With 11 members on the Supervisory Board, the successful candidate must secure at least six votes. The current Governor, Madis Müller, serves until 6 June 2026; once the board selects a candidate, the appointment is subject to confirmation by the President of the Republic of Estonia, with the governor’s term set by law at seven years and limited to a single consecutive term.
