The Central Bank of Seychelles announced that Governor Caroline Abel has resigned, effective Sept. 16, 2026. Pending the appointment of a new governor, First Deputy Governor Brian Commettant will assume responsibility for the central bank’s management and operations as chief executive officer under the Central Bank of Seychelles Act. Abel has led the central bank since March 2012 and was serving her third six-year term, which began in March 2024. She joined the institution in 1994 and has served there for 32 years.
