The Italian Securities Commission (Consob) ordered the blocking of 17 websites promoting unauthorised investment and crypto-asset services, including three sites that used scam advertisements featuring cloned faces and voices of prominent Italian politicians to market online platforms to Italian savers. Consob banned promotional activity on it-more.culinaryjoy.sbs, ayquozeber.com and cyberirfy.icu and ordered the blocking of a further 14 web addresses tied to brands including InvestiumGroups, Protradealliance, Aureo Flowdex, Servelius, BrokerageAI, ZZCoin, Ofuyc, Veltrixmax-invest.com and Orolonix-invest.com. The total number of sites blocked by Consob since July 2019 has reached 1,443. The measures relied on powers under Italy’s “growth decree” for abusive financial intermediaries and on powers introduced under MiCAR and its Italian implementing decree for unauthorised crypto-asset services targeting Italian investors. Blocking actions are being implemented by Italian internet connectivity providers and may take a few days for technical reasons.
