The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that its chairman, Firdavs Tolibzoda, met with a delegation from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and separately with the World Bank’s Reserve Advisory and Management Partnership (RAMP) during the IMF and World Bank Group Spring Meetings in Washington, focusing on expanding cooperation in treasury services, correspondent banking, and asset and reserve management. Discussions with ICBC covered treasury servicing and asset management, including the possibility of opening correspondent accounts for commercial banks and expanding operations through correspondent account arrangements. The meeting with RAMP director Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska addressed central bank approaches to asset management, investment in liquid and high-quality financial instruments, diversification of international reserves, staff capacity building through seminars and training or internship programmes, and potential advisory technical assistance to improve operational effectiveness.
