Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance convened a workshop to review domestic and international climate policy, climate finance and the Kingdom’s approach to addressing climate-related challenges. Participants included researchers and experts from the Ministry of Energy, the National Debt Management Center and the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, alongside university faculty and postgraduate students. Discussions covered the scientific basis of climate change, relevant international agreements, global policy perspectives and the Circular Carbon Economy Approach as a means of supporting emissions-reduction pathways aligned with national priorities. The National Debt Management Center also presented Saudi Arabia’s Green Finance Framework, issued in March 2024 to encourage public- and private-sector climate and environmental finance initiatives.
