The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly statistics on the domestic cash foreign exchange market, covering purchases and sales of foreign currency against Moldovan lei conducted by cash exchange units with individuals. For March 2025, total turnover was EUR 351.0 million equivalent, comprising EUR 268.8 million in purchases and EUR 82.2 million in sales. The euro accounted for EUR 258.6 million (74.3% of total turnover), followed by the US dollar at EUR 59.6 million (16.1%). Other currencies comprised EUR 22.7 million (7.5%), while the Romanian leu totalled EUR 7.4 million (1.5%), the Russian rouble EUR 1.9 million (0.4%) and the Ukrainian hryvnia EUR 0.8 million (0.2%). Total turnover rose 5.0% versus the prior month and 4.6% year on year. Euro equivalents are calculated using average official monthly exchange rates of the Moldovan leu against the euro and the relevant foreign currency, and the National Bank of Moldova publishes the series monthly by the last day of the month following the reporting month.
