The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has launched a Crypto and Blockchain Education Program to provide member firms and their employees with educational resources on crypto assets and blockchain technology. The offering combines self-paced e-learning and a separate in-person applied learning course delivered in partnership with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. The first release consists of foundational, interactive e-learning courses available on FINRA’s Financial Learning Experience (FLEX) platform beginning in October, covering crypto and blockchain terminology, blockchain operations and on-chain transactions, the evolution of blockchain technology, types of crypto assets and related products, the crypto ecosystem and markets, key considerations for member firms with crypto and blockchain touchpoints, and common fraud schemes with crypto asset exposure. The program also uses application-based activities, scenarios and self-assessment quizzes, with a stated focus on supporting compliance professionals in addressing crypto-related fraud risks.
