The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) reported that it has been alerted to two counterfeit draft surety bond insurance policies intended for marketing and bearing the name of S.C. ASITO KAPITAL S.A., which the insurer has disowned. IVASS urged consumers to exercise caution and to verify that quotes and contracts are attributable to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries before paying any premium. S.C. ASITO KAPITAL S.A. also informed IVASS that the email addresses info@asitokapital.ro and info@asitokapital.it and the certified email address asitokapital@pec-mail.it are false and not connected to the undertaking. The firm is a Romanian insurer supervised by Romania’s Autoritatea de Supraveghere Financiară (Financial Supervisory Authority) and is authorised to operate in Italy under the freedom to provide services in several non-life classes, including class 15 (Surety), but has stated it is not actively operating in that class. IVASS directed users to its website resources for checking authorised insurers, surety insurers (including the stated method for telematic policy verification), and registered intermediaries, as well as alerts on counterfeit cases, unauthorised firms and non-compliant websites.
