The Central Bank of Uruguay has published its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, setting priorities for maintaining low and stable inflation, protecting the value of savings and strengthening confidence in the financial system. The plan focuses on reinforcing a credible monetary regime, strengthening the bank’s institutional framework and independence, and modernizing its operations in response to technological and financial-system change. The strategy also seeks to make the financial and payments system more innovative, interoperable, secure and competitive, while expanding access to finance, deepening credit and strengthening markets in local currency. It calls for a broader and modernized regulatory perimeter covering entities that channel savings into investment, with increased transparency, supervision and investor protection, supported by stronger internal capabilities, management modernization and staff development.
