The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority has published its 2027 supervisory categorization of Swedish credit institutions and Swedish branches of foreign credit institutions. Norion Bank moves to category 3 after ceasing to qualify as a small and noncomplex institution, while the category 1 designations of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Swedbank, Svenska Handelsbanken and Nordea Hypotek remain unchanged. The categorization guides the authority’s proportionate allocation of supervisory resources but does not prevent it from applying a different level of supervision where other factors warrant. Four newly licensed credit market companies, Arktika Capital, Credento Bank, Yieldloop and Sambla Group, enter category 4. Entercard Group no longer receives a separate category following Swedbank’s acquisition of full ownership, while De Lage Landen Finans and MedMera Bank are removed following, respectively, the cessation of financing activities and an acquisition by Morrow Bank. For foreign bank branches, DNB Finans is classified as a significant branch after a restructuring transferred a substantial share of DNB’s retail customers to it. DNB Bank’s Swedish branch is correspondingly reclassified from significant branch to branch. Nordea Bank and Danske Bank retain their classifications as particularly significant branches.
