The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority used the LCCF 2026 forum to explain how insurance can strengthen resilience and continuity in Tanzania's mining sector. In remarks at the event, the authority framed insurance as a practical risk management tool that can reduce financial losses when mining activities are disrupted by disasters or other unexpected events. TIRA's Lake Zone manager said more than 18 categories of risk can be covered through insurance, including post-mining environmental restoration, workplace accidents, fire, machinery damage and third-party liability claims. He added that proper use of insurance services supports risk management across the sector, while TIRA is continuing to ensure that insurance providers develop products suited to mining sector needs.
