Germany’s Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection has drafted changes to clarify liability, compensation and insurance rules for certain traffic accidents. Accident victims would face no difference in compensation claims when the other vehicle is leased, addressing circumstances in which current law may expose the other party to higher claims. The draft would also make it easier for crime victims to obtain compensation when a vehicle is used as a weapon. Further changes would address liability and insurance law for large traffic accidents.
