Sweden's Ministry of Finance has appointed an investigator to propose how the European Union's Retail Investment Strategy should be implemented in Swedish law. The package is intended to strengthen consumer protection in financial markets and create more uniform regulation across the union. The review will assess what legislative changes are needed under MiFID II, the Insurance Distribution Directive, Solvency II, and the frameworks for funds and alternative investment funds. Tord Gransbo, a former senior official in the Ministry of Finance's financial markets department who has also served on several inquiries, has been appointed to lead the work. The inquiry is due to report by Aug. 31, 2027.
