The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Dr Claude Lopez as Head of the Economic Research Department within its Economic Group, effective 1 September 2025. She will lead the Bank’s long-term research agenda covering the economy, the conduct of monetary policy and other topics relevant to the RBA’s responsibilities. Dr Lopez joined the RBA in 2023 as Deputy Head of the Financial Stability Department. Her previous roles include Chief Research Officer at the Milken Institute, senior positions at the Banque de France and Professor of Economics at the University of Cincinnati, and she holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Houston and a Master of Science in Econometrics from the Toulouse School of Economics.
