The Bank of the Lao PDR said Deputy Governor Aloun Bounyong and relevant departments received a delegation from the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office, led by AMRO Director Yasuto Watanabe, during AMRO's 2026 working visit to Laos. The meeting formed part of AMRO's annual monitoring of Laos' macroeconomic conditions and centered on a briefing to the central bank's leadership on the country's macroeconomic situation. The discussion also covered AMRO's recent work in its role as secretariat and macroeconomic surveillance body for ASEAN+3 members, along with its forward work plan. The Bank of the Lao PDR highlighted AMRO's technical assistance, particularly the secondment of central bank staff to AMRO, which it said has helped build staff capacity, support knowledge exchange with specialists and strengthen economic monitoring for policymaking amid regional and global uncertainty.
