The National Bank of Moldova published June 2026 foreign exchange market data showing that net foreign currency supply from individuals covered 96.9 percent of net foreign currency demand from economic agents, up from 91.1 percent in May 2026. Both sides of the market increased during the month, and the central bank did not intervene in the local foreign exchange market. Net foreign currency supply from individuals rose by EUR 68.9 million, or 26.0 percent, to EUR 333.6 million, while net foreign currency sales to legal entities increased by EUR 53.7 million, or 18.5 percent, to EUR 344.3 million. For January to June 2026, the coverage ratio stood at 90.7 percent, compared with 85.2 percent in January to June 2025. The Moldovan leu's average exchange rate against the euro moved from 20.1620 in May to 20.1367 in June. Within individuals' net foreign currency supply, the euro remained dominant with a 63.2 percent share, followed by the U.S. dollar at 30.6 percent and other currencies, mainly pounds sterling, at 6.2 percent.
