The National Bank of Bulgaria’s Governing Council has designated six other systemically important institutions (O-SIIs) under BNB Ordinance No. 8 and the European Banking Authority methodology, and set the corresponding O-SII capital buffer levels to apply from 1 January 2026. The buffer applies to the total risk exposure amount on an individual basis, a consolidated basis, or both. From 1 January 2026, the O-SII buffer is set at 1.00% for UniCredit Bulbank AD (individual and consolidated), United Bulgarian Bank AD (individual and consolidated), DSK Bank AD (individual and consolidated) and Eurobank Bulgaria AD (individual). First Investment Bank AD is assigned 0.75% (individual and consolidated), and Invest Capital AD 0.50% (individual). The decision will be disclosed one month after notification to the European Systemic Risk Board, and was taken in line with the European Central Bank’s macroprudential procedures under Article 5 of Council Regulation (EU) No 1024/2013; the BNB’s website section on the O-SII buffer has been updated accordingly.
