The Central Bank of Paraguay published an update that the Social Security Council has completed the interview stage of the public merit-based competition for superintendent of retirement and pensions and unanimously formed a shortlist of three candidates. The shortlist will be submitted to the executive branch through the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which chairs the council, for the final appointment under Law No. 7235/2023. Interviews for the seven eligible applicants were held on Dec. 3 and 4, 2025, in plenary session, with principal and alternate council members participating in line with Decree No. 4776/2025. Candidates were assessed against the competition criteria covering institutional and technical leadership, independence and judgment, clarity and precision in presenting ideas, technical knowledge of pensions and supervision, and ethical suitability and institutional attitude. The names of the shortlisted candidates have been published on the websites of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Labor Employment and Social Security, and the Central Bank of Paraguay.
