Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defence of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF), in coordination with HSBC and the University of Guadalajara, ran a two-day programme of talks for university students in Guadalajara ahead of the 18th National Financial Education Week (SNEF) 2025, aimed at strengthening young people’s financial skills. CONDUSEF President Oscar Rosado Jiménez highlighted the importance of financial health and responsible credit use, including avoiding borrowing to sustain an unsustainable lifestyle and prioritising essential spending. The programme referenced the 2023 National Financial Health Survey (ENSAFI), which found that 45.4% of adults worry a lot about unexpected expenses and 48.4% about accumulating debt. Sessions included “Test your financial skills” delivered by Rosado Jiménez, and “ABC of Credit and Financial Fraud” and “Personal Finances to Boost Your Entrepreneurship” delivered by Mario Armando Arias de la Garza, HSBC Mexico’s Ombudsman Director and coordinator of the banking sector’s user service committee, across the University of Guadalajara’s CUCSH campus and the Universidad del Valle de México campus in Guadalajara. SNEF 2025 is scheduled for 23–26 October at the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City, alongside a digital edition running from 20 October to 31 December with online talks, interactive workshops and digital tools. CONDUSEF also flagged a further pre-SNEF event in Querétaro as part of its outreach to university students nationwide.
