National Bank of Moldova Governor Anca Dragu and Bank of France Deputy Governor Agnès Bénassy-Quéré discussed expanding cooperation to support Moldova’s financial reforms and alignment with European standards. The talks built on a January 2025 memorandum covering monetary policy, financial stability, regulation and supervision, economic research, digital transformation and risk management. The officials reviewed Moldova’s progress in aligning its regulatory and supervisory framework with European Union rules and its efforts to secure recognition of the equivalence of its banking prudential framework. They also discussed Moldova’s participation in SEPA, development of the MIA instant payment system and the National Bank of Moldova’s interest in exploring MIA’s interconnection with the European TIPS instant payment settlement infrastructure. Further cooperation could include professional exchanges and training to strengthen digital transformation, financial education, institutional practices and external risk analysis.
