The Central Bank of the Republic of China has designated 12 additional commercial banks as bank-type operating institutions for the digital renminbi and connected them to the central bank-side digital renminbi system, as part of implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan direction to steadily develop the digital renminbi and improve service inclusiveness. The newly added banks are China CITIC Bank, China Everbright Bank, Huaxia Bank, China Minsheng Bank, China Guangfa Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Zheshang Bank, Bank of Ningbo, Bank of Jiangsu, Bank of Beijing, Bank of Nanjing and Bank of Suzhou. They will begin offering digital renminbi services after completing required business and technical preparations. The central bank indicated it will continue to expand the roster of operating institutions in an orderly way under market-based and rule-of-law principles, aiming to foster an open, inclusive and fair competitive environment for digital renminbi development.

Central Bank of the Republic of China expands digital renminbi operators by adding 12 commercial banks
The Central Bank of the Republic of China has designated 12 additional commercial banks as bank-type operating institutions for the digital renminbi and connected them to the central bank-side digital renminbi system, in line with the 15th Five-Year Plan to develop the digital currency and enhance service inclusiveness. The newly added banks will launch digital renminbi services after completing required preparations, and the central bank plans to further expand operating institutions under market-based and rule-of-law principles to support an open, fair competitive environment.
