The Central Bank of Russia has published Faster Payments System (SBP) data for 2025 Q1 showing a sharp rise in household use, led by fee-free transfers between individuals’ own accounts held at different banks. These own-account transfers accounted for 40% of the total number of money transfers made via the SBP. In January–March 2025, individuals made more than four billion SBP transactions worth over RUB 22.6 trillion, with transaction volumes up 1.6 times and total value more than doubling year on year. The central bank reported that person-to-person SBP transfers are used by 7 out of 10 Russians and SBP purchases by 5 out of 10, while the SBP loyalty programme paid around RUB 500 million in immediate cashback in 2025 Q1 and RUB 4 billion over the past year.
