Moldova's Ministry of Finance held a working meeting to examine whether to establish an insurance guarantee fund, positioning it as a mechanism to strengthen protection for beneficiaries of insurance products and align the national framework with international good practices. The discussion brought together State Secretary Elena Grumeza, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Moldova, the insurance market, and other stakeholders. Participants reviewed potential design and operating features of an insurance guarantee fund, its role in protecting beneficiaries, possible institutional options for Moldova, and relevant international experience, in the context of broader efforts to strengthen the regulatory framework for financial services including insurance. The Ministry of Finance will continue dialogue with relevant institutions and market representatives to identify appropriate regulatory solutions in this area.
