The Bank of Botswana announced that Beni Fame (Pty) Limited has voluntarily surrendered its licence to operate an electronic payment service under the Electronic Payment Services Regulations, 2019. The central bank advised the public not to transact electronic payment services with Beni Fame (Pty) Ltd or anyone purporting to offer such services in its name. Beni Fame’s operations as a licensed Bureau de Change remain unchanged. The Bank also cautioned that operating an electronic payment service without a valid Bank-issued licence is a criminal offence under the Regulations.

The Bank of Botswana announced that Beni Fame (Pty) Limited has voluntarily surrendered its licence to operate an electronic payment service under the Electronic Payment Services Regulations, 2019. The central bank advised against transacting with Beni Fame for electronic payment services and reiterated that operating such services without a valid licence is a criminal offence. Beni Fame’s Bureau de Change operations remain unaffected.
