The National Bank of Moldova said Gov. Anca Dragu held a bilateral meeting in Vienna with Martin Georg Kocher, governor of the Austrian Central Bank and a member of the European Central Bank Governing Council. The talks focused on stronger cooperation between the two central banks, Moldova's European integration path, macroeconomic stability, the development of modern payments infrastructure and deeper collaboration in international forums. Dragu presented the National Bank of Moldova's progress in aligning the national regulatory and financial supervisory framework with European Union standards across banking, payment systems and the institutional framework. Particular emphasis was placed on Moldova's integration into the Single Euro Payments Area, following the decision taken in Brussels on 6 March 2025, and on development of the MIA national instant payment system created by the central bank. She also highlighted the Austrian Central Bank's support for the Joint Vienna Institute, which provides regional training and capacity building for central banks and public authorities, including the National Bank of Moldova.
