The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Board of Directors has postponed the compliance date for certain requirements in its Sign and Advertising Rule affecting insured depository institutions (IDIs), covering the display of the FDIC’s official sign on digital channels and provisions related to automated teller machines (ATMs) and similar devices. The delayed provisions are sections 328.4 and 328.5, which were part of a final rule adopted on 20 December 2023 updating signage and advertising requirements for IDIs. While full compliance with the amendments had been scheduled for 1 May 2025, the FDIC has moved the compliance date for these two sections to 1 March 2026. The FDIC indicated it will use the additional time to propose adjustments to the regulation, citing ongoing implementation questions and the potential for consumer confusion. All other provisions of the rule will still take effect on 1 May 2025.
