Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance has launched a new Economy and Environment section on its website, bringing together material on how environmental considerations are being incorporated into economic policy and on the development of sustainable finance in Uruguay. The section acts as a central reference point for policy measures, financing tools and related initiatives covered by the ministry. The new page includes information on recent changes to the investment promotion regime under Decree 329/025, including the Ministry of Environment's addition to the regime's governance, as well as guidance, rules and new project evaluation criteria for access to tax benefits and clean energy measures. It also covers the link between environmental commitments and international trade agreements such as the Mercosur-European Union agreement, Uruguay's climate change indicator-linked bond and loan, the SiGa Ambiente tool for sustainable investments by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, the climate finance project, BIOFIN Uruguay, the Climate and Nature Fund, and environmental economic instruments used in tax policy. The site also aggregates the ministry's latest environment-related updates and links to initiatives developed with other ministries and public bodies.
