The Financial Action Task Force has announced a virtual event on 1 July 2026 to officially launch its 2026-2028 Roadmap on Combating Fraud. The launch marks fraud as a core strategic priority under the incoming United Kingdom 2026-2028 Presidency and is intended to shape the FATF’s response to what it describes as a global fraud epidemic affecting individuals, businesses and financial systems. The event will bring together the FATF Global Network, observers and other public and private sector stakeholders to contribute to the roadmap’s development. Discussion will focus on national perspectives, emerging fraud risks and policy responses, alongside operational input from the private sector on information sharing, innovative solutions and cross-sector collaboration. The agenda also highlights financial intelligence, asset recovery, international cooperation and returning funds to victims. The launch follows the FATF’s April Ministerial Meeting, where ministers agreed to use the full anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter-proliferation financing toolkit against fraud, including risks linked to organised scam centres, legal persons, virtual assets and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
