The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) launched FINRA Forward, a set of initiatives intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its regulatory programs. The programme has three strands covering rule modernisation, enhanced support for member firm compliance, and expanded work to address cybersecurity and fraud risks. Under the initiative, FINRA is undertaking a broad review of its rulebook to modernise requirements, facilitate innovation and remove unnecessary burdens. It also plans to enhance how it supports member firms’ compliance efforts, and to expand cybersecurity and fraud prevention activities to bolster firms’ risk management capabilities and resilience against emerging threats and to better protect firms and their investors.
