The Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) published a blog post by its Chairman, Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, outlining planned improvements to the eMPF Platform ahead of Phase 2 onboarding. The update also reports early usage metrics, with five MPF schemes joining the platform since June 2024 and nearly 200,000 transaction instructions processed, around two-thirds of which were completed electronically. Ahead of Phase 2 onboarding, the eMPF project team will refine the interface and user instructions, while the contractor will increase responsiveness in enquiry handling, including via a dedicated contribution enquiry channel and expanded service-centre support. Operational capacity is set to rise through a gradual 60% increase in contractor manpower during 2025, alongside ongoing coordination with MPF trustees to streamline employers’ administrative practices and improve data accuracy, including around voluntary contributions. The onboarding package also includes enhanced training for employers and MPF administrators, expanded “one-on-one” support for both large employers with complex arrangements and smaller firms with limited resources, wider geographic coverage through additional district support stations, and a three-tier testing framework combining external expert input, professional user-interface testing and structured feedback from a user group drawn from onboarded participants. Phase 2 onboarding is scheduled to run from March to July 2025, commencing on 5 March.
