The Central Bank of Russia published a consumer profile of individuals who used the new self-ban on loans and microloans in its first month, based on credit history bureaus’ data. More than 8.1 million people used the mechanism, and nearly 92% opted for a complete self-ban covering new loans and microloans from banks and microfinance organisations, both in-person and online. Among those who set a self-ban, 44% had no effective loan or microloan agreements, including 26% who had never concluded such agreements. Individuals with only outstanding microloans from microfinance organisations accounted for less than 1% of self-ban users. Regionally, residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region represented over 19% of users, Saint Petersburg more than 5%, and the Rostov and Sverdlovsk Regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Krasnodar Territory over 3% each. A more detailed profile for the first month of usage is available on the Central Bank of Russia website.
