The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission published a press release summarizing its contribution during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which ended on 30 June 2026. In that context, CySEC said staff from its policy, supervision, authorisations and legal functions took part in Council Working Party meetings and technical negotiations on major EU legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting the European financial sector. The work highlighted in the release focused on the Market Integration and Supervision Package, which is intended to deepen EU capital market integration and strengthen supervisory convergence, and on the revision of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation to improve the transparency and reliability of ESG-related disclosures. CySEC also pointed to its participation in negotiations on the Financial Data Access Regulation, a core element of the EU open finance framework, and in discussions on the Pan-European Personal Pension Product, which is aimed at creating a harmonised European market for personal pension products.
