The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) announced it will launch a new series of banknotes, to be officially unveiled by the President of the Republic of Fiji on 02 December 2025 in Suva and issued into circulation from 02 January 2026. The new series follows the RBF’s banknote review cycle, undertaken every 10 to 12 years, with the previous review completed in 2012 that introduced the current flora and fauna series. Under the Reserve Bank of Fiji Act 1983, the review covers technical and design aspects to maintain currency quality and authenticity, and for the upcoming series it has resulted in new designs on the reverse of the notes, a revised substrate to improve durability, additional security features to address counterfeiting risk, and enhanced features to assist the visually impaired.
