The Bank of Canada announced that Reka Juhasz, an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver School of Economics, is the recipient of the Bank’s 2025 Governor’s Award under its 2025 Fellowship Program. Juhasz’s research focuses on the effects of industrial policy and how governments can improve the efficacy of such policies to foster economic growth, including how industrial policy can affect costs and inflation with implications for monetary policy. Her work also covers international trade, economic history, growth and development; she is published in leading economic journals, co-founded The Industrial Policy Group, and received the Alexander Gerschenkron Prize in 2016.
