The Mauritius Financial Services Commission has launched a register of trusts requiring licensees that provide trusteeship services to submit current basic and beneficial ownership information. The register supports competent authorities’ access to accurate information on legal arrangements and applies to management companies, management companies acting only as qualified or corporate trustees, and other authorized qualified trustees. Affected licensees must record all trusts under their administration and ensure the information is accurate, complete and consistent by January 15, 2027. After the initial population, qualified trustees must report changes to beneficial ownership information immediately and no later than five working days after obtaining the information or the change occurring. Noncompliance may result in supervisory follow-up and regulatory action, while a user guide and frequently asked questions set out the registration process and related obligations.
