Rwanda’s Ministry of Finance, working with development partners including GIZ, has launched a phased implementation roadmap for the Rwanda Green Taxonomy (RGT) and introduced the Rwanda Green Taxonomy Navigator, a digital platform intended to speed up adoption of the taxonomy across key sectors. The RGT is a national framework that sets sustainability criteria and aims to create a shared market understanding of what qualifies as a green investment, helping direct financial flows toward green, climate-resilient and socially inclusive projects while reducing greenwashing risk. The Navigator is designed to help financial institutions, regulators and private sector users apply the taxonomy in practice, including by classifying projects and investments; the launch also targeted capacity building and sought user feedback on the tool’s usability and potential improvements. Implementation is intended to proceed through the roadmap’s phased plan, with stakeholder collaboration and feedback informing refinements to the Navigator and supporting wider rollout of the RGT.
