The Superintendency of Banks of Panama reported that Superintendent Milton Ayón Wong took part in the first LatAm Economic Forum, organized by the Bank of Spain in Roda de Bará, Tarragona, Spain. The forum focused on capital flows, exchange rates and geopolitics, and brought together monetary authorities, financial supervisors, multilateral institutions and academics to discuss the main economic and financial challenges facing Latin America. As part of the same agenda, Ayón Wong also joined meetings of the Latin American Center for Monetary Studies, which covered regional progress and challenges in cross-border payments and monetary cooperation, and held bilateral meetings with representatives of Spanish banks. The event included governors and deputy governors from 20 central banks. Participants highlighted in the release included European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, former Bank for International Settlements General Manager Agustín Carstens, and Bank of Spain Governor José Luis Escrivá, who delivered the opening remarks.
