The European Commission reported that the EU and Ukraine have opened accession negotiations on the internal market and competitiveness and inclusive growth clusters. The talks cover 17 negotiating chapters, including financial services, free movement of capital, competition, taxation, economic and monetary policy, digital transformation and customs. The EU also set benchmarks for the provisional closure of the chapters. Ukraine’s alignment with and implementation of the EU acquis and relevant European standards will remain subject to monitoring throughout the merit based accession process. The step follows the opening of negotiations on the external relations cluster in July 2026.
