At the Capital in Motion conference in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia Securities Commission Chairman Marko Janković reported that the final stage of aligning Serbia’s capital market framework with the European Union acquis has been completed from the Commission’s perspective. The proposed legislative measures are now under review by the European Commission, following earlier work to draft rulebooks under the Capital Market Law in line with EU requirements. The panel framed regulatory alignment, investor confidence and capable market institutions as prerequisites for Serbia’s long-term capital market development. Participants also discussed expanding the use of initial public offerings and investment funds, strengthening investment culture and creating conditions for capital held outside investment funds to enter the market.
