The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu met with Sergiu Oprescu, President of the European Mortgage Federation, and Luca Bertalot, Secretary General of the European Covered Bond Council, to discuss Moldova’s investment potential, capital market developments, and the scope to expand financing mechanisms using mortgages and covered bonds. The European representatives expressed interest in building cooperation with Moldova’s banking sector. Dragu highlighted progress in economic reforms and bank sector strengthening, and referenced a project to reinforce financial supervision supported by the National Bank of Romania and Romania’s Financial Supervisory Authority. She also underlined the importance of Moldova’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area and stated that the central bank will continue aligning its regulatory and supervisory framework with European standards to support a positive assessment by the European Banking Authority.
