Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators has ordered the start of liquidation of Caja Rural de Ahorro y Crédito Del Centro (CRAC Del Centro), and the Deposit Insurance Fund (FSD) has advised depositors that covered deposits are protected up to the statutory maximum of PEN 117,200 per depositor. Coverage applies automatically because CRAC Del Centro was an FSD member, and depositors do not need to register or pay any fee to benefit from protection. Payments will be made in Peruvian soles; insured foreign-currency deposits will be converted using the exchange rate published by the SBS for the day before the intervention. Depositors will be able to collect the insured amount through Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito de Arequipa S.A. (Caja Arequipa) branches nationwide. The FSD indicated that it will announce the date from which depositors can begin collecting payments at Caja Arequipa.
