The Reserve Bank of New Zealand announced that Simone, who joined in 2019, will leave the central bank to pursue other opportunities. Governor Christian Hawkesby credited her with growing and delivering a function that plays a crucial role in supporting the Reserve Bank’s mandate. Her tenure included overseeing implementation of the Reserve Bank Act, embedding more diverse thought into ways of working, strengthening the Council of Financial Regulators (CoFR), and building out key functions. Simone said she supports the Reserve Bank’s current direction under the Governor’s leadership but considers this the right time to explore other opportunities. The Reserve Bank also noted it is consulting on a proposed new structure for its Executive Leadership Team and that no decisions have been made on any future structure.
