The Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA) published an update on a virtual meeting between Governor Yahya Shunnar and an International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, covering developments in the Palestinian banking sector, current challenges, and efforts to restore banking operations in the Gaza Strip, alongside plans to strengthen sector stability. The discussion with IMF mission head Kerstin Gerling, IMF resident representative Tobias Roy and the IMF technical team, alongside PMA Deputy Governor Mohammed Manasrah and PMA department directors, focused on enhancing PMA-IMF cooperation, particularly through technical assistance aimed at improving the efficiency of the Palestinian banking system and its capacity to address future challenges. Gerling acknowledged progress in maintaining banking system stability and reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to provide technical assistance and guidance to support implementation of the PMA’s plans in line with international standards.
