The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued a LKR 2,000 commemorative currency note to mark its 75th anniversary, celebrated on 28 August 2025. The note is issued on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, circulates as legal tender, and can be used for payment of any amount. The banknote is aligned with the anniversary theme “Stability for Prosperity” and includes multiple security and accessibility features, including a colour-changing security thread that shifts from blue to green and incorporates the Colombo Lighthouse Clock Tower and “2000”, a Lion with Sword watermark, a see-through security feature, microtext, raised print on the denomination and the Central Bank title, and tactile bars with diamond shapes intended to help visually impaired users identify the denomination.
