The National Bank of Romania has issued an update encouraging selected households to participate in Romania’s first Household Finance and Consumption Survey, which runs from May to December 2026. Conducted with the National Institute of Statistics as part of the European Central Bank-coordinated survey program, the research will provide comparable data on household income, consumption, borrowing, savings, property and financial assets. More than 12,000 households across 1,309 localities have been statistically selected to represent the diversity of households nationwide and cannot be replaced by volunteers. The Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy is collecting the data through authorized interviewers. Responses are confidential and used solely for statistical purposes, and participants will not be asked for payments, passwords, PINs or other bank account authentication details.
