The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Scott Schneider, counsellor to Chair Gary Gensler and Director of the Office of Public Affairs, will depart effective next month after serving in the role since 19 April 2021. As Director of the Office of Public Affairs, Schneider led the SEC’s external communications strategy, media relations, rulemaking and enforcement communications, digital strategy, updates to SEC.gov, and internal communications, and oversaw the Chair’s speechwriting and public engagement. The release notes he managed the communications rollout for senior personnel appointments, dozens of proposed and final rulemakings, and hundreds of enforcement actions, and that the office launched Chair Gensler’s official X account and an “Office Hours” video series during his tenure.
